Splash Into Summer With Children’s Museum of Atlanta’s Playful June Programming | South Atlanta Moms

Children’s Museum of Atlanta is jumping into June with blissful, festive programming! Families are encouraged to celebrate Dad with fun-filled Father’s Day activities and journey to countries across the world for a cultural experience with United Nations of Play programming. The Museum also continues to welcome guests to the experiential, science-focused traveling exhibit, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™. Visitors are invited to experience the refreshed Step Up to Science permanent exhibit, debuting on June 26 and sponsored by Cognizant U.S. Foundation.

June Special Programming

United Nations of Play
Saturday, June 12 – Sunday, June 13
Families are invited to the Museum’s second installment of United Nations of Play – a weekend of memorable activities introducing international cultures through play, sponsored by Georgia Council for the Arts. Kids will discover toys, games and recipes from five countries around the world: Canada, Colombia, Germany, Kenya and Korea!

Father’s Day
Sunday, June 20
Little ones will celebrate all of the astounding dads, grandpas, uncles and other father figures in their lives! The day will feature a reading of Irene Smalls’ Kevin and His Dad and a colorful Father’s Day craft.

CMA On Stage
Storytime: Kevin and His Dad by Irene Smalls
Session A: 10:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. / Session B: 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. / Session C: 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Science Bar
Kids will make Oobleck and learn about non-Newtonian fluids.

Creativity Café
Children will make chromatography butterflies and a warmhearted Father’s Day craft.

A brand-new permanent exhibit…

Step Up to Science
Opens Saturday, June 26
Children’s Museum of Atlanta is launching an all-new, fully revamped version of its permanent, science-centric exhibit, Step Up to Science. Sponsored by Cognizant U.S. Foundation, the reimagined exhibit will engage kids in various elements of “Cause and Effect,” featuring interactive permanent exhibits that will allow children to discover the innovative world of STEM through captivating science experiments.

In preparation for the Step Up to Science renovation, Science Bar and Creativity Café will be temporarily closed from June 21-25.

Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab
Through Tuesday, September 7

Step into the Lab and be inspired by the animated series and the brilliant work of Thomas Edison! Immersing little ones in the wonders of science, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™ offers captivating, hands-on experiences that introduce kids to the world of STEM, engages them in the scientific process and highlights some of the most inspiring, renowned scientists and innovators alongside their groundbreaking discoveries.

Sensory Friendly Sessions
Sunday, June 6
Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sundays during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory-modified setting, limited admission and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sensory Friendly Sessions.
