Children’s Museum of Atlanta is wrapping up the summer celebrations with fun-filled festivities throughout August! Kids are invited to make new friends during Friendship Weekend, show love to their furry friends on National Dog Day and learn about pioneering women on Women’s Equality Day, alongside more immersive programming. Continuing the interactive STEM learning into August, the Museum welcomes families to its limited-time, featured exhibit, Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab™, and newly reimagined permanent exhibit, Step Up to Science!
August Special Programming
Sunday, Aug. 1
Little ones are invited to celebrate Friendship Weekend by learning how to be a good friend with storytimes, crafts, and science experiments! On Stage, kids will read Lisa Mantchev’s “Strictly No Elephants” and Cori Doerrfeld’s “The Rabbit Listened.” Junior artists will make friendship bracelets and picture frames in the Creativity Café. At the Science Bar, kids will wow their friends with new science skills!

National Dog Day
Sunday, Aug. 22
Join the Museum’s celebration of furry friends with storytimes; doggie bingo; and festive science and art activities. Visit the Plaza, where FurKids will have adorable, adoptable dogs for families to meet and greet! On Stage, little ones will learn about how dogs can train to be heroes with a reading of Laura Numeroff’s “Raising a Hero,” then head up to the Science Bar to make homemade dog treats.

Sensory Friendly Sessions
Sunday, Aug. 1
Families with children on the autism spectrum or with sensory processing disorders are encouraged to join the Museum’s 2021 Sensory Friendly Sessions! On select Sundays during Session A, kids can enjoy a playful, hands-on experience with a sensory-modified setting, limited admission, and sound and lighting adjustments to ensure safety and comfort. Stage programming will not be available during Sensory Friendly Sessions.
