The Clayton County Office of Digital Equity is excited to announce its partnership with Inspiredu Inc., a local non-profit organization that provides technical skills training and free refurbished laptops to families in need. Since its inception on July 1, 2022, the Office of Digital Equity has been working tirelessly to assist residents with applying for the Affordable Connectivity Program (ACP), a federally funded benefit of $30/month towards the cost of home internet or cell phone service, facilitating Navigating Your PC, and Protecting Your PC training for the residents of Clayton County. Additionally, the goal is yo connect residents with resources that provide access to digital devices.
On March 8, 2023, the Office of Digital Equity will host Inspiredu, Inc Adult Literacy Workshop. Twenty-five Clayton County residents will receive two hours of technical training accompanied by one newly refurbished laptop equipped with Microsoft Office, and one year of technical support.
“This is an invaluable partnership for our office and the first of many to come,” said Digital Equity Administrator Takiyah Thomas. “According to a recent phone survey, about three in 10 low-income households in Clayton County have a desktop or laptop computer in the home. Partnering with organizations that provide free digital devices to our residents helps us reach our goal of increasing this number and closing the digital divide in Clayton County, one household at a time.”
