Now that we are almost halfway into the year, I want to talk about our goals. Most of us set yearly goals back in January. Have we fallen off the wagon yet? If so, pick yourself back up and reset. It is doable to get back on track! Despite our best intentions, most of us find ourselves sliding back into the comfort of our old ways. The gym visits taper off, we forget to wake up by 5 am, we go back to working late at the expense of family time, the burger gets bigger and greasier, and so on. While I believe that we need to give ourselves grace, I also think that striving to meet our goals is good for us – and it is also good for our kids to see an example of this. An example of not quitting or giving up when things get hard. So with that being said, if you want to get back to it, here are some easy tips to crush your goals by the end of the year:!
Write Them Down
Writing down your goals and going public with them increases your chances of successfully achieving them significantly. Not only does writing everything down help you create a clear vision of what you actually want to achieve, but it also helps you remember your goals more, compared to when you do not write them down because it is motivating and pushes you to take action. While social media is not always good, it is good in this sense. If you write down your goals and share them with the “world” (aka. your social media circle), and continuously update them on your progress, it will push you harder so that you can post positive updates.
Let me give an example. Let’s say that Tricia posts on Instagram that she wants to lose 10 pounds and gain a lot of muscle by December. She posts her workout and meal prepping each day to 1) keep herself accountable and 2) motivate those that might be in a similar boat. As Tricia is doing this, she will more than likely get words of positivity from those watching her post. If they are in the same boat, they can bond over the struggles, too. Verbalizing her wins and struggles helps her stay positive and keep moving forward. Danielle, on the other hand, is trying to reach the same goal, but she hasn’t publicly announced that. She struggles just as much as Tricia, but it is harder to stay on track because she doesn’t have a support team. In these two scenarios, Tricia has a much better chance at reaching her goal by December – and staying positive along the way.
So, as you make goals and try to crush them, write them down and post about them! I promise – it will be so much easier with a great support system cheering you on along your journey.
Make Your Goals Attainable
You need to make sure that the goals that you set are attainable and realistic because you don’t want to set yourself up for failure. However, do not hold yourself back, either. A lot of the time, we set the bar too low and we are then stuck in our old ways. Raise the bar, but raise it slowly so that you can acclimate to each change and each new goal. Your monthly goals should be stepping stones to make it to your larger goal(s) by the end of the year.
Know That You Don’t Have To Do It All Alone
To crush your goals, you do need to work hard for them, but when your to-do list is overwhelming, it can really be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel, and sometimes, it is easier to just throw in the towel. If this is starting to happen to you, ask for help! For example, if you have 20 tasks on your to-do list for the month of June, see if there are any that you can outsource to make it a bit more doable. Struggling to run your business? Manifest It
With your goals safely captured and stored on paper, the next thing to do is to picture yourself getting there. Visualize all the steps to take to achieve the specific goals. And even better, feel the euphoria and emotions that come with accomplishing each goal. Manifesting your goals yields excellent results if done frequently and correctly. Your mind is powerful and the more that you think it will happen, the harder you will work to achieve those goals, no matter what they are.
