South Atlanta Moms Guide to Making the Most of the Fall - South Atlanta Moms

The leaves are starting to turn colors and they are slowly, but surely beginning to fall. The weather is cooling down and that cool, crisp breeze is music to my ears. The fun fall festivities are picking up and people are thinking ahead to the upcoming holiday months, as well. These are some of my favorite times of the year. I love the weather, the joy that flows within everyone, and of course, the fun activities, too.

Sometimes, I have so much going on that it’s really hard for me to be able to fully soak in this time of year. However, this year, I’m aiming to change that. I want to really make the most of the fall, because I love it so much, and believe that it should be celebrated! If you feel the same way, you will want to check out these ways to make the most of your fall. Feel free to add to the list in the comments below!

Enjoy fall football

I’m not sure that I really need to write a paragraph about enjoying fall football. It’s fall. The weather is perfect for football, and football snacks are the best. Am I right? Seriously – throw on a jersey and head out for a game, or turn on the TV.

Do a cider crawl

There are three ways that this could go down:

  1. There are so many fun apple orchards, especially in the North GA mountains. Take advantage of that and make a list of places that you can visit to pick apples, enjoy their other fun fall offerings, and of course, taste their cider. This is definitely the more family-friendly version of a cider crawl, and it could be so much fun! You could head to a pumpkin patch, while you are at it and it would be a complete fall family day in the mountains.
  2. The second way that you could enjoy a cider crawl is by going around Atlanta (and the surrounding areas) and doing a hard cider crawl. There have been a crazy amount of cideries (is that a word) that have popped up recently and if there are not enough of those, most breweries in the area are also offering fall ciders, as well. If you don’t want to drive from brewery to brewery, you could always go somewhere such as The Beltline, to enjoy all of the restaurants and bars within walking distance from each other. There is a tap room (space) at Krog Street, PCM, and of course, Pour Taproom is also right by Krog Street. In addition, each bar along the way to and from Piedmont Park will also be offering some sort of fall beverage.
  3. If you want to stay home, bring all the fall flavors with you and invite a few friends over! You could have each family bring over a fun fall drink and the options do not have to stop at cider. Try cider, a pumpkin spice drink, a gingerbread drink, hot chocolate (you could even get a bit more out-of-the-box and do a bone broth hot chocolate), and more.

No matter which option you choose, or if you come up with your own way to enjoy a fall cider crawl, I bet you will have a blast, and I think this is an awesome way to enjoy the fall beverages!

Become a regular at the farmers market

I love finding local, fresh foods and ingredients. A lot of Ga-based farmers markets are seasonal and if this is the case for your farmers market, go ahead and take advantage of them while they are open. Thankfully, there are some that are open year-round, like the Marietta market. Either way, become a regular at the farmers market, support local farms and businesses, and improve your eating habits all in one swoop!

Make fun fall recipes

Okay, I don’t know about you, but personally, I am a complete sucker for fall recipes. Anything with pumpkin, count me in! Half Baked Harvest has some killer fall recipes and she actually just released her old (but improved) pumpkin bread recipe this week. Boy, does it look good! Grab some ingredients, pull out your tried and true pumpkin recipes, and make a mess in the kitchen! Bonus points if you bring in those fall dishes for your co-workers to snack on!

Host a game night

Last but not least, have a game night! Start with corn hole or bocce ball outside. Fill your tables with board games and cards galore, and even include some stand-up games like pool or foosball. You seriously cannot go wrong! If you need to stock up on some games for your home, Absolute Billiard Services has used pool tables in Atlanta that are super high-quality and affordable. Each pool table comes with accessories, free delivery and installation, AND installation guaranteed for a full year. Absolute Billiard Services has more than seventeen years of experience under their belt and they don’t just sell used (and new) tables.
